The Prime Enchantress is the most powerful sorceress of the Koriathain. She is supported by the Prime Circle of senior enchantresses, and is separated from the rest by her ability to use the cipher of domination and to control the Great Waystone (the Skyron Focus is sometimes used by the First Enchantress, and is not as challenging to master).
The symbol of the Prime is a crested crane device. She wears a mantle of purple velvet with nine bands of office and a traditional tiara of amethyst and diamond.

Third Age 5637: At the beginning of the story, Morriel Prime is the Prime Enchantress and has been for the last 1425 years. The trials of succession becomes more difficult with each passing year, and Morriel has gone through forty-two other First Enchantresses who failed to survive the passage.
